Other times, though, comfort foods can be completely nourishing and it’s good for you to eat them. There are a number of foods that, when you consume them, may better your mood. If you are feeling a little bit down and you need a happiness pick me up, try some of these. Eggs, believe it or not, can be actually wonderful at beating back depression. You need to make sure, however, that what you make includes the yolk. When you want to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most essential part of the egg. Eggs, especially the yolks, are loaded with B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be terrific for elevating your mood. This is because they improve the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Eat a few eggs to feel better! Put together a trail mixout of various seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etcetera are all helpful for improving your mood. This is because these nuts are rich in magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that directs your brain how you feel day in and day out. The more serotonin you have, the happier you are going to feel. Nuts, on top of bettering your mood, can be a great source of protein. If you want to battle depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, etc, they’re all chock-full of omega-3s and DHA. These are two substances that promote the quality and function of the gray matter in your brain. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can actually help you battle your depression. Some grains are actually wonderful for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, barley, millet, etc are terrific at helping you be happier. They fill you up better and that can help you with your moods also. Feeling starved can truly make you feel terrible! These grains can help your mood elevate since it’s not at all hard for your body to digest them. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps raise your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, raises your mood. Green tea is wonderful for moods. You were sure green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea has a lot of an amino acid known as L-theanine. Research has proven that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while also calming the rest of your body. You knew green tea could help you feel healthier. And now you are aware that it can help improve your mood too! You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are terrible for you to feel better! Go with these hints instead!
