Foods That Make You Happy For the most part, people have been trained to think that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and have to be avoided. Often, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this can be true. At times, comfort foods can be very healthy and good for us to consume. There are some foods that, when you consume them, could boost your mood. When you are feeling a little down and are needing an emotional pick-me-up, try a few of these. Eggs, you might be astonished to discover, are great at fighting depression. You should make sure, however, that what you make includes the yolk. The yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, specifically the egg yolks, are full of B vitamins. B vitamins can be great for lifting up your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that dictate how you feel). Try consuming a few eggs to jolly up! Put together a trail mixout of different seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etcetera. This is because seeds and nuts have a lot of magnesium which boosts your brain’s serotonin levels. Serotonin is the “feel good” chemical substance that dictates to your brain how you feel at all times. The more serotonin you have, the happier you are going to feel. Not only that, nuts, specifically, are a fantastic protein food source. Cold water fish are great if you are wanting to be in a better mood. Salmon, herring, tuna, mackerel, trout, and so on, they’re all high in omega-3 and DHA. Omega-3 fatty acids and DHA are two things that promote the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can really help you overcome your depression. Some grains are actually great for driving away bad moods. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all really excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer as well, which can help your mood too. Feeling famished can be terrible! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are easy to digest. You digest these foods quicker than other things which can help promote your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise. Green tea is really great for your mood. You knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea is high in a particular amino acid called L-theanine. Studies show that this specific amino acid can essentially stimulate brain waves. This will better your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You already knew that green tea helps you be healthier. Now you know that green tea helps you to elevate your moods too! So you see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are not good for you to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
