Turn to Food to Improve Your Mood For the most part, people have been taught to believe that “comfort” foods are terrible for the body and have to be avoided. Sometimes, if your comfort food is made of candy or other junk foods, this holds true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be extremely nourishing and good for you. There are some foods that, when you eat them, can boost your mood. If you are feeling a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these. Eggs, believe it or not, can be really terrific at fighting back depression. You should be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. Whenever you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk especially, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can really help you elevate your mood. This is because they help in bettering the function of your neural transmitters, the components of your brain that affect your mood. Consume an egg and feel a lot happier! Put together a trail mixout of a variety of seeds and nuts. Your mood can be improved by consuming peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and so on. This is possible as these foods have a bunch of magnesium which increases serotonin production. Serotonin is referred to as the “feel good” substance that our body produces and it tells your brain how you should be feeling all the time. The higher your levels of serotonin, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not only that but nuts, particularly, are a great source of protein. If you wish to beat depression, try consuming some cold water fish. Wild salmon, herring, mackerel, trout, and tuna are all high in omega-3 fats and DHA. DHA and omega-3s are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s grey matter. It’s true: eating a tuna fish sandwich can greatly boost your mood. It’s easy to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains fill you up better and that can help elevate your moods too. Feeling famished can be terrible! These grains can improve your mood as it’s not at all difficult for your body to digest them. You digest them more quickly than other things which can help boost your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel more pleasant, mood wise. Your mood can truly be helped by green tea. You were sure green tea had to be included in this article, right? Green tea is packed full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This will improve your brain’s concentration while also loosening up the rest of your body. You were already aware that green tea could help you feel better. Now you are aware that it helps you to lift your moods as well! You can see, you don’t need to eat junk food or foods that are bad for you just so to feel better! Try some of these instead!
