Foods That Can Make You Happy In general, people have been trained to believe that “comfort” foods are not good for the body and have to be avoided. But if your comfort food is candy or junk food this is true. Other times, comfort foods can be perfectly nourishing and good for us to consume. Several foods honestly do elevate your mood when you eat them. When you feel a little down and need an emotional boost, test out some of these. Eggs, you may be astonished to find out, are great at battling depression. You should be sure, however, that what you make includes the egg yolk. Every time you would like to cheer yourself up, the egg yolk is the most important part of the egg. Eggs, the egg yolks especially, are rich in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be fantastic for boosting your mood. This is because the B vitamins increase the function of your brain’s neural transmitters (the parts of the brain that affect how you feel). Try consuming a couple of eggs to feel better! Make a few trail mix of nuts or seeds. Your mood can be improved by eating peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and other types of nuts. This is because these nuts are loaded with magnesium, which helps to increase serotonin production. Serotonin is the “feel good” natural substance that dictates to your brain how you feel at all times. The more of it in your brain, the happier you’ll feel. Not only that but nuts, in particular, are a fantastic protein source. If you want to overcome depression, you should eat some cold water fish. Salmon, herring, tuna fish, mackerel, trout, etcetera, they’re all chock-full of omega-3 and DHA. These are two things that improve the quality and the function of your brain’s gray matter. It’s true: consuming a tuna fish sandwich can earnestly boost your mood. It’s easy to overcome your bad mood when you consume grains. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all truly excellent for helping boost your happiness levels. They help you feel full as well which can really help to make your mood better. Feeling famished can truly bring you down! The reason these grains are so good for your mood is that they are easy for your body to digest and process. They are easier to digest than other foods which helps kick up your blood sugar levels and that, in turn, elevates your mood. Green tea is excellent for moods. You were just waiting to read that, weren’t you? Green tea is found to be chock-full of an amino acid referred to as L-theanine. Research has proven that this amino acid stimulates the production of brain waves. This helps sharpen your mental energy while simultaneously making the rest of your body more relaxed. You already knew green tea could help you feel so much healthier. Now you know that green tea can elevate your mood also! So you see, you don’t have to turn to junk food or foods that are terrible for you just so to feel better! Try a few of these instead!
