Sometimes, if your comfort food is a sugary food or another junk food, this is very true. Otherwise, comfort foods may be extremely nutritious and good for you. There are several foods that, when you consume them, could better your mood. If you are feeling a little bit down and need a happiness pick me up, try a couple of these. Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you battle depression. Just make sure that you do not throw away the yolk. When you wish to cheer yourself up, the yolk is the most vital part of the egg. Eggs, the yolk in particular, are stuffed full of B vitamins. B vitamins can truly help you raise your mood. This is because they help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that control your mood–work better. Eat a few eggs to cheer up! Make a trail mixfrom different seeds and nuts. Almonds, cashews, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, etc are all good for raising your mood. This is possible because these foods are high in magnesium which increases serotonin production. Not just that, nuts, specifically, are a fantastic protein source. Cold water fish are great if you wish to feel better. It’s the truth: eating tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you overcome your depression. Grains can be wonderful for overcoming a terrible mood. Quinoa, millet, teff and barley are all actually great for helping boost your happiness levels. These grains can help you feel full for longer also, which is a mood improver. Feeling hungry can be terrible! The reason these grains are so great for your mood is that they are not difficult for your stomach to digest. You digest them faster than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise. Green tea is excellent for moods. You just knew green tea had to be mentioned, right? Green tea has been found to be chock-full of an amino acid called L-theanine. Studies have found that this amino acid basically induces brain waves. This will improve your brain’s focus while at the same loosening up the rest of your body.
