How to Boost Your Mood with Food Most of us have been conditioned to think that comfort foods are bad and are to be avoided. However, if your comfort food is candy or junk food this might be true. At times, comfort foods can be utterly healthy and good for us to consume. Several foods really do improve your mood when you consume them. If you feel a little bit down and you’re needing an emotional pick me up, try several of these. Eggs, would you believe, are wonderful for helping you fight depression. Just see to it that you do not toss the egg yolk. The egg yolk is the part of the egg that is the most crucial in terms of helping elevate your mood. Eggs, the egg yolks particularly, are high in B vitamins. The B vitamin family can be great for boosting your mood. This is because these vitamins help your neural transmitters–the parts of your brain that affect your mood–run better. Eat an egg and jolly up! Make a trail mix from seeds and/or nuts. Peanuts, cashews, sunflower seeds, almonds, pumpkin seeds, and so on are all terrific for helping to raise your mood. This is possible because these foods are high in magnesium which increases your production of serotonin. Serotonin is a feel-good substance that dictates to the brain how to feel at any given moment. The more serotonin you have, the more pleasant you are going to feel. Not only that but nuts, in particular, are a great protein source. Cold water fish are excellent for eating if you wish to fight depression. Cold water fish such as tuna, trout and wild salmon are rich in DHA and omega-3 fatty acids. These are two substances that increase the quality and function of the grey matter in your brain. It’s the truth: consuming tuna fish sandwiches can truly help you battle your depression. Grains can be excellent for driving away a bad mood. Millet, quinoa, barley, etc are fantastic at helping you feel happier. They help you feel full as well which can really help to improve your mood. Feeling starved can truly bring you down! The reason these grains elevate your mood is that they are not hard to digest. You digest these grains faster than other foods which can help increase your blood sugar levels, which, in turn, helps make you feel better, mood wise. Your mood can actually be helped by green tea. You were simply waiting to read that in this article, weren’t you? Green tea is high in a specific amino acid called L-theanine. Studies show that this particular amino acid can basically stimulate brain waves. This helps raise your mental acuity while calming the rest of your body. You knew that green tea helps you feel better. Now you are well aware that green tea helps you to raise your moods as well! As you can see, you don’t need to eat all that junk food when you wish to feel better! Try some of these instead!
